In keeping with my Bespoke approach to the skin I have, for many years, been blending bespoke face oils for my clients. I was fortunate enough to learn from the late Kolbjorn Borseth who instilled in me a lasting love and enthusiasm for oils for the skin. I do not just use oils but also oil soluble, bio active botanicals which blend well with the oils and have a positive and direct impact on the skin.

When you apply my oils on to your skin they are absorbed directly into the top layers of your skin where they instantly work to replenish the top layer of the skin and improve the lipid barrier function. I favour the omega rich oils which are known as “thin” and “dry” and therefore absorb quickly without leaving a greasy residue. They can make a noticeable improvement to skin texture, helping the skin to feel more nourished and hydrated as well as look more healthy.

The oils I use are either organic or cold pressed. Many are from plants grown by local famers in developing countries who do not have organic status though they are not using insecticides or pesticides.

Below are some of my favourite oils:

Argan Oil
Obtained by pressing the oil bearing kernels from the fruit of the Argan Tree.
Absorbs quickly in to the skin and is a regenerating oil for all skin types providing good moisture and antioxidant protection. It helps to keep the skin supple and to leave the skin feeling beautifully soft and nourished. High in Linoleic Acid 19-40%, carotene and phytosterols and has a high content of Vitamin E.

Avocado Oil
Obtained by pressing the flesh of the avocado pear. Penetrates very deeply into the skin. Provides hydration and is a great skin conditioner. Particularly good for dry or mature. skins. Contains 50-74% Oeic Acid/Omega 9. Rich in vitamin A, E, B, D and has a high chloryphyll content. It is a very nourishing, restorative oil making it good for tired, lack lustre or damaged skin.

Hemp Seed Oil with 0.5% Vitamin E
Cold pressed from the seeds of the organic cannabis plant. Contains good levels of GLA (gamma linolenic acid) making it excellent for problem skin

Moringa Oil
Rich in Omega 9 - about 65-80% and has excellent anti oxidant properties. Conditions and nourishes the skin, especially good for dry and mature skin as helps to reduce and prevent fine lines. Can leave the skin with a glossy luminescence in a non greasy way.

Passion Flower Oil
Has a high content of EFA’s (up to 77% linoleic) plus Vitamin C, calcium and phosphorus, is rich in potassium and vitamin A so is good for acne. Has anti bacterial, anti itch and anti inflammatory properties

Perilla Seed Oil
From the seed of the perilla frutescens. One of my favourite oils because it contains a minimum 60% of Omega 3 which all skins love. Restores flexibility in the skin.

Prickly Pear Seed Oil
Rich in natural antioxidants, essential fatty acids and Vitamins E and K.

Thistle Seed Oil
From pressing the seeds of the safflower plant. Very high in Omega 6 & 9. Excellent for all skin types and works well in an oil blend due to it’s thin, dry texture.

Water Melon Seed Oil
Cold pressed from the seeds of the water melon fruit. Rich in B Vitamins, tocopherols, magnesium and zinc. Has a de-clogging effect on the skin and can help to eliminate sebum and dirts from the skin that could otherwise clog pores. It can help to reduce pore size and is suitable for all skins including dry, oily, acne prone, maturing skin.

White Poppy Seed Oil
Helps to reduce TEWL and is excellent for skin hydration. Rich in tocopherols so good for psoriasis and dermatitis like conditions.

Other natural and plant derived actives that I use in my oil blends:
Eco Silk
100% natural and biodegradable. Improves the spreadability of oil and dramatically improves texture adding a lightness and elegance to the feel of the oils in the skin which makes them so pleasurable to use. Made from natural and renewable sources of sugar beet and coconut. COSMOS approved.

Eco Marine Algae Extract
Made from an oceanic marine algae Cylindrotheca fusiformis. It is highly concentrated in carotenoids, EFA’s (essential fatty acids) and sterols, all of which are massively beneficial to the skin. It helps to boost collagen, plumping and reducing wrinkles, improves elasticity and stimulates healing. Due to its anti inflammatory protective and repairing properties it plays an important role in the skins barrier function making it relevant to all skins. The micro algae in this extract is grown in purpose built eco facilities in Italy which guarantees the purity of the algae and doesn’t disrupt the eco balance of the oceans by harvesting it.

Evening Primrose Seed CO2 Extract
A botanical extract high in GLA - gamma linoleic acid which is vital to cell function and has been well researched and proved to have a favourable effect on a number of skin conditions such as acne and eczema. Evening Primrose is also a potent free radical scavenger protecting the skin from pollution sun damage and other environmental stressors.

Remodelling Intense
Extracted from the South African plant Spilanthes Acmella which is ethically and sustainably sourced. It has a firming and smoothing effect on the skin.

Rosehip CO2 Extract
Soothing and nourishing making it useful for sensitive skin. Contains a high content of Vitamin A and Omega 3 which all skins can benefit from. Supports skin repair and regeneration of damaged tissues so it is good for skin damaged by surgery, sun exposure and burns.
