Eat well (at least most of the time). Supply your body with protein, vitamins,
minerals, antioxidants & EFA’s. Nourishing your body will nourish your skin.
Wear a skin care product that offers both UVB and UVA protection. This is your best defence against premature ageing.
Drink plenty of water on a daily basis. Water enables all of your organs,
including your largest organ, your skin, to perform optimally.
Get enough sleep. Sleep is vital for tissue renewal and the health of the
whole body.
Manage your stress levels. Stress has a deeply undermining effect on the
body, mind and spirit and this will often manifest in your skin.
Watch your alcohol intake. It increases the release of vital fluids and
vitamins from your body and can lead to visible capillary damage.
Avoid exposure to cigarette smoke. It deprives the skin cells of oxygen and
increases free radical damage.
Keep your caffeine intake down as it can dehydrate the skin. It also
increases insulin and cortisol levels which does your skin no favours.
Watch your sugar intake. Excess glucose in the blood triggers processes
that degenerate the skin.
Develop a good skin care routine and your skin will advertise it. Cleanse,
tone and moisturise with products that suit your skin and treat yourself to a
monthly Facial.
Exercise regularly. This increases the oxygen to the cells and increases
circulation and lymphatic flow, giving the skin a healthy glow.
Don’t obsess about your skin or examine it under harsh lights or
with magnifying mirrors. No one's skin looks good this close up and no one
else (apart from your Facial Therapist) will ever examine it so closely. Do
what you can and enjoy your life.
